Brady Vail scored a pair of power play goals, but it wasn't enough on Thursday night in a 3-2 loss to the Kitchener Rangers at the WFCU Centre.

Vail's first of the game tied things at 1-1 at 11:05 of the opening frame, early in a two-minute 5-on-3 advantage.

His second got us back within a goal in the third period.

But it's what went on around the second-year centre's 13th and 14th of the season that made the difference.

The Spitfires (17-18-3-1) fell behind in the first period, as Kitchener's third liners cashed in. Namely Eric Ming, who was left unchecked for his 5th of the season on a rebound just eight minutes in.

Max Iafrate's 3rd of the season, again on a rebound, gave the visitors a 2-1 lead at 3:38 of the second period.

The score stayed that way until Vail was assessed a penalty at the 40-minute mark.

Mike Catenacci scored the eventual winner on the ensuing power play at 1:18 of the third. A strange goal: as a Cody Sol point shot was knocked out of mid-air and fell right at Catenacci's feet.

John Cullen was strong in goal, making 37 saves as we dropped our fourth straight.
