Windsor Spitfires News Release

Josh Shalla scored twice and Jake Paterson made 30 saves as the Spirit beat the Spitfires 3-1 on Wednesday night in Saginaw.

Brady Vail (12) had our lone goal, while Jaroslav Pavelka made 29 saves.

The win pulled Saginaw within six points of Windsor in the Western Conference standings, with three games in hand.

Shalla's first of the game opened the scoring at 8:46 of the first period.

The lead held up until 6:24 of the third, when Vail went to work. Kerby Rychel spotted the speedy centre on a broken play at centre ice, before he whipped past the Saginaw defence and beat Paterson along the ice to tie the game.

But it didn't last long.

Jimmy Lodge restored the Spirit lead just 1:13 later.

Shalla rounded out the scoring with an empty-net goal at 19:42.

We're right back at in Thursday night, as the Kitchener Rangers come to town.
