UTAH'S JOE GERMAINE EARNS WEEKLY HONOR

SALT LAKE CITY - The Arena Football League Office announced Utah Blaze QB JOE GERMAINE (6-2, 220, Ohio State) as Offensive Player of the Week for his performance in last Friday's 76-63 victory over the Los Angeles Avengers. This marks the first time the former Buckeye has earned an AFL weekly award.

"Joe is going to be a great one," said Blaze head coach/general manager DANNY WHITE. "He's been a true leader on and off the field. Joe's been everything that we expected him to be and is truly deserving of this award."

Germaine, who is in second season with the Blaze (5-2), finished the game by completing 32-of-39 (82.1%) of his passes for 371 yards, 10 touchdowns and no interceptions. He has completed 184-of-261 passes (71.6%) for a league-leading 2,346 yards and 52 touchdowns (No. 2 in the AFL) with only three interceptions in 2007.

Other Offensive Player of the Week candidates included: Georgia's QB CHRIS GREISEN and WR CHRIS JACKSON, Columbus QB MATT NAGY and DAMIEN GROCE, Dallas QB CLINT DOLEZEL and Colorado WR BRAD PYATT.

The Western Division leading Blaze host the archrival Arizona Rattlers at the EnergySolutions Arena this Friday, April 20 at 7 p.m. The game will be shown locally on KJZZ 14 with DAVE FOX and ALEMA HARRINGTON serving as talent, while the game can also be heard on 1280 The Zone with KEVIN GRAHAM and SCOTT GARRARD calling the action.
