April 17, 2007 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
Tampa Bay Storm News Release
TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm will host March of Dimes Day when they host the Columbus Destroyers on Sunday, April 29 at the St. Pete Times Forum. A minimum of 25 percent of the proceeds will go to March of Dimes.
The donation will go to the March of Dimes Florida Bay Chapter. In addition, the Storm will auction two seats next to the Storm bench for the game against the Destroyers. Over the next five years, the March of Dimes is supporting the Prematurity Campaign, a major effort to defeat the overwhelming problem of premature birth. The Tampa Bay Storm and Lawrence Samuels are proud to participate in this campaign.
"My daughter Landry was born 10 weeks to soon," said wide receiver Lawrence Samuels. "She weighed 2lbs and 12 ounces at birth. The doctor told my wife and I, 'She must fight for her life,' and she did. My wife and I have witnessed the effects of prematurity. We are proud to support the March of Dimes."
The March of Dimes will host Hillsborough County WalkAmerica 2007 on Saturday, April 28, 2007. This is a five-mile walk along Bayshore Boulevard and Hyde Park. Registration begins at 6 a.m. at Plant Park located on the campus of the University of Tampa.
Everyday, thousands of families are affected by premature birth, birth defects and other threats to their baby's health. That is why the March of Dimes is working hard to ensure that all babies get a healthy start. To register please visit www.walkamerica.org or contact Becky Clay, Director of WalkAmerica at bclay@marchofdimes.com or (813) 287-2600.
