TAMPA BAY - The five-time world champion Tampa Bay Storm have claimed quarterback Brett Dietz off of the Kansas City Brigade practice squad Head Coach and General Manager Tim Marcum announced today.

Dietz, a 6-foot-4, 220-pound quarterback, out of Hanover College spent six weeks in 2006 on the Tampa Bay practice squad. He signed with the Louisville Fire in af2 after his release.

"Brett had an opportunity to play in Louisville," said Marcum. "So he asked if he should go and I told him to go to Louisville. He had a chance to play and gain valuable experience with the Fire."

In his first season with the Fire he garnered 2006 af2 Spalding Rookie of the Year honors. He also earned 2006 American Conference All-af2 First Team honors as he finished the season as the top rated passer with a 126.74 quarterback rating. Dietz completed 370-of-520 passes for 4,217 yards and 90 touchdowns.

He began the 2007 season in training camp with the returning 2006 Arena Football champion Chicago Rush prior to signing with the Kansas City Brigade on March 15. He is expected to come in and back up starting quarterback John Kaleo.

"I am happy to get a chance and to be back in Tampa," said Dietz. "I woke up this morning on practice squad waiting for a phone call, and I was excited when it arrived."
