THE GAME:

The Colorado Crush return home following a two-week road swing to host the Las Vegas Gladiators on Friday, April 20th at 7:00 p.m. Colorado is 3-1 all-time versus the Gladiators, including wins in the last three straight meetings, all of which have been at Pepsi Center.

Colorado needs to enjoy the comforts of home while they can because six of their next seven games will be away from Pepsi Center. After Friday nights contest, the Crush will not play back in Denver till May 18th when they host the Columbus Destroyers.

Over the years, the Crush offense has been the team's trademark with players like back-to-back AFL Offensive Player of the Year Damian Harrell and quarterback John Dutton. This season however the defense is making their mark led by the defensive back tandem of Chris Angel and Rashad Floyd. Angel ranks second in the league with five interceptions following his three pick performance against New York. Floyd currently sits atop the AFL tackle leaders with 71 stops on the season. For his efforts against the Dragons, Angel was also named the league's Defensive Player of the Week on Tuesday.

The Las Vegas Gladiators are in the midst of a five-game losing skid that has dropped their record to 1-6. The Gladiators enter the game however with the AFL's fourth highest rated red zone offense scoring on 22-

of-25 possessions (88%). In

their lone win of the season, Las Vegas exploded for 79 points against Grand Rapids, which stands as the second most scored by a team this season.

Rookie quarterback Brian Jones will be making his second consecutive start for the Gladiators following the release of Shaun King last week. King had started Las Vegas' first five contests. Jones played very well in his starting debut tossing eight touchdowns on 27-of-37 passes for 366 yards in bringing the Gladiators within one-point of victory at Georgia 68-69. Jones also added a rushing score on the night.

HEAD COACHES:

MIKE DAILIEY, Colorado (103-67, 11th Year): Mike Dailey enters his fourth season in Colorado and 11th as head coach in the AFL, after becoming the Crush's second head coach on June 26, 2003. Dailey joined the Crush following 13 seasons in the Albany/Indiana Firebirds organization, including the final seven as head coach.

One of the most successful and well-respected coaches in AFL history, Dailey's teams have compiled an overall record of 103-67 record, a winning percentage of 60.6. His teams have also made eight postseason appearances and he has won five division titles and two championships. Following the Crush's 44-40 victory over Kansas City on March 10, 2007, Dailey became only the fourth head coach in AFL history to surpass the 100 win mark. He currently stands as the league fourth all-time winningest coach.

In his first season in Colorado, Dailey helped guide the Crush to the largest turnaround in AFL history, inheriting a 2-14 team and leading them to an 11-5 record in 2004. In 1999, Dailey led the Albany Firebirds to their only ArenaBowl championship and was named AFL Coach of the Year. Before being named head coach of the Firebirds in 1997, Dailey served as an assistant in Albany for five seasons.

Dailey began his AFL coaching career with the Washington Commandos where he served as offensive/defensive line coach in 1990. He joined the Firebirds organization in the same capacity in 1991.

Prior to the AFL, Dailey worked as an assistant coach at Towson State University and was the offensive coordinator at Montgomery College-Rockville (Md.). Dailey got his start in coaching in 1981 as a 22-year-old assistant at Georgetown Prep High School in Rockville, Md. The move to coaching followed a semi-pro football career in the Washington D.C. area.

He is the winningest coach in af2 over the last three seasons. He was named the af2 Coach of the Year in 2005 as he led the Xplorers to their best season in franchise history; a 13-3 regular season mark, a Midwest Division title and the 2005 ArenaCup Championship.

In 2004, Memphis won ten games and earned their first trip to the playoffs, before falling to the eventual champion Florida Firecats on a last second field goal miss. Barto was promoted from defensive coordinator to the head coach position prior to the 2002 season and won his first three games in what turned out to be a 5-11 season.

Coach Barto is still considered a University of Memphis legend; he played for the Tigers from 1990-1993. He currently is the only player to be named to the All-American team three different years. He is still ranked number one in career tackles for the University of Memphis with 473.

Coach Barto also enjoyed a 5-year professional career in the CFL and AFL leagues. In the CFL, he played for the Shreveport Pirates, Memphis Mad Dogs, Hamilton Tiger-Cats and the Ottawa Rough Riders. In the AFL, he played for the Connecticut Coyotes in 1996.

Coach Barto currently resides with his wife Rachel and his 9-year-old son Will in Collierville, TN . He is a native of Niceville, FL.

LAST TIME THESE TEAMS MET:

DENVER (2/12/06) - The Colorado Crush improved to 3-0 for the first time in the team's four-year history with a 65-55 victory over the Las Vegas Gladiators. After facing a 15-point deficit in the third quarter, Colorado outscored Las Vegas 38-20 in the second half thanks in part to a successful on-side kick recovery, two interceptions and a sack and fumble recovery in the endzone.

QB Craig Whelihan would give the Gladiators the early lead nine plays later on a one-yard touchdown rush. Both teams would continue to trade scores throughout the remainder of the first half until the Gladiators defense stepped up to force the game's second stop. Colorado's four straight pass attempts to OS Damian Harrell fell incomplete as the Crush turned the ball over on downs with 1:19 left before the half. Las Vegas was able to capitalize on the turnover when Whelihan found Douglas for a 23-yard touchdown strike and a 35-21 lead. With two seconds left on the clock in the second quarter, Colorado was able to cut the Gladiators lead to one possession, 35-27, as QB John Dutton connected with Marshall in the corner of the endzone for an 11-yard score.

Las Vegas built their largest lead of the day on their opening drive of the second half with Whelihan and Douglas combining for a third score, this time on a 13-yard touchdown pass pushing the score to 42-27. The 15-point deficit was the largest the Crush had faced this season and the turning point to what would be a 10-point Colorado victory. On the Crush's next possession it only took Dutton one play to find WR/LB Andy McCullough on a 45-yard touchdown reception. On the ensuing kickoff, the Colorado special teams made their presence felt by successfully recovering an on-side kick attempt for the second straight week setting up the Crush offense again. Colorado regained the lead, 42-41, when Marshall rushed in from two yards out following a seven-play 36-yard drive.

With the Crush's offense and special teams clicking, it was time for the defense to do their part on the Gladiators next possession. On the fourth play of Las Vegas' next drive, Whelihan was hit in the leg and was replaced by back-up Glenn Gauntt for one play. That one play proved to be costly as Colorado DS Rashad Floyd intercepted Gauntt for the Crush's first pick of the season. A 21-point Colorado turnaround was completed to begin the fourth quarter, when Dutton found Harrell for a 12-yard touchdown catch and a 48-42 Crush lead. The Gladiators added a final score with 32 seconds remaining on Whelihan's game-high seventh touchdown pass of the afternoon, as Colorado closed out the 65-55 victory.

CRUSH LAST WEEK:

UNIONDALE (4/15/07)- Colorado DB Chris Angel's third interception of the night with 27 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter sealed a one-point 49-48 victory for the Crush (4-3) over the New York Dragons (1-5) Sunday afternoon. The Crush took their final lead of the contest on a 15-yard pass from QB John Dutton to WR Damian Harrell with 39 seconds left on the clock setting up Angel's game ending heroics.

"Having been with New York in training camp earlier this season, I had a feeling that they liked to run the post in those situations with (Mike) Horacek," explained Angel. "Once the ball was snapped it became a foot race and than I was able to make a play on the ball."

Crush head coach Mike Dailey added. "I thought we had great effort today. I think we are still looking to play our best game, but the number one thing is to try to find ways to win along the way."

The Colorado defense and special teams paced the game for the Crush forcing three interceptions, one turnover on downs and two missed field goals; one blocked resulting in a safety. Offensively for Colorado, WR Brad Pyatt recorded game-highs with 112 receiving yards on eight receptions with three touchdowns.

New York took an early 13-6 second quarter lead when Horacek scored on a 35-yard touchdown run. Colorado would respond scoring the game's next 26 points building a 32-13 advantage by the early minutes of the second half.

Momentum would swing back the Dragons' way as New York put together a 28-7 run of their own led by a 55-yard kickoff return for a score by DB DeShane Dennis and a pair of touchdown passes by QB Rohan Davey. New York regained their first lead since the game's early beginnings when FB Ja'Mar Toombs rushed in from one-yard out to put the Dragons up 41-39 with 9:40 in the final quarter.

The lead would change hands two more times in the game's last five minutes before Harrell and Angel lifted Colorado to victory.

THINGS TO WATCH:

YOUNG BLOOD:

The Colorado Crush took the field in Week 1 with four rookies on their active roster. Not since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival to Colorado in 2004 has he had that many first-year players on his Crush active roster to begin a season.

The Crush currently have six rookies on their active roster with four of those players starting.

LOCAL TIES:

This season the Crush have found a lot of good-young talent right in their back yard. Here is a list of players that have Colorado ties:

- DL QUINN DORSEY attended Manual High School in Denver.

- FB/LB ANTHONY DUNN attended Centauri High School in Manassa, CO and later played at the University of Northern Colorado.

- OL BRETT HUYSER played his collegiate football at the Air Force Academy.

- WR BRAD PYATT has played football at all three levels of his career in Colorado (Arvada West High School, Northern Colorado and the Crush).

BUILDING A WINNING TRADITION:

The Crush are the winningest team in the AFL regular season since head coach Mike Dailey's arrival, having tied for the league's best record in 2004 (11-5) and finishing with the American Conference's top seed in 2005 (10-6) and 2006 (11-5).
