Local sports radio talent Sean "OC" O'Connell from 104.7 The Zone will be taking the field alongside the new 2011 Blaze team as they take on division rival San Jose SaberCats in a pre-season 80-play scrimmage. O'Connell currently hosts the morning show on 104.7 The Zone from 6-10 a.m. with former Blaze player Hans Olsen. O'Connell played football collegiately at the University of Utah before finishing his career as a linebacker at Weber State University.
Following the scrimmage, the Blaze will be holding a meet and greet with the players and staff at Buca Di Beppo at 6 p.m., located at 202 West and 300 South in Downtown Salt Lake City. All of the Blaze players will be available for autographs in conjunction with a live remote broadcast with 104.7 The Zone.
