Utah Valley State Catcher Inks With Owlz

The Orem Owlz signed former Utah Valley State catcher Derrick Thomas today. The twenty-four year old backstop will be very familiar with the Home of the Owlz having spent two seasons playing in the stadium for the Wolverines.

Thomas was born in Orem, Utah and attended Layton High School where he was named to three All-Region and three All-State baseball teams. Prior to UVSC the 6'0" 210 pound Thomas attended Salt Lake Community College helping the team to the SWAC title in 2001.

"We are very happy to have signed Derrick," said Owlz Gm Zachary Fraser. "He was a great player while at Utah Valley State and will definitely help the Owlz in their quest of the 2007 Pioneer League title."

The Owlz begin a three game home stand against the Casper Rockies at the Home of the Owlz on Monday night. Season tickets are now on sale at 801-377-2255 and are available at www.oremowlz.com.
