USL Championship Standout Augustine Williams Signs with Indy Eleven
January 24, 2024 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
Indy Eleven News Release
INDIANAPOLIS - Indy Eleven has today announced the signing of top attacking talent Augustine Williams, who joins the Boys in Blue following a USL Championship Final run with the Charleston Battery in 2023. Per club policy, terms of the deal will not be disclosed, and status is pending league and federation approval.
Williams (6-2, 185) led Charleston in goals for the second consecutive season in 2023, posting 15, while adding three assists, to help Charleston to its first league Final appearance in club history. During the Battery's playoff run, Williams notched a pair of goals, including the match winner in the Conference Finals against Louisville City, and added an assist. His 2023 tally contributes to 66 total USLC regular season goals (10th), making him one of two 2024 Boys in Blue in the league's all-time top 10. He joins Sebastian Guenzatti who sits seventh on the list with 70.
In 2022, Williams' 16 tallies accounted for 40% of Charleston's goals, with the total standing as the most in a regular season for a player during the squad's USL Championship era. For his efforts, he picked up second-team All-USL honors, the second of his career.
The Sierra Leone native spent three seasons (2019-21) as part of the LA Galaxy organization, which included seven matches as part of the first team in 2021. In 51 matches as part of the USL Championship's Galaxy II squad, Williams tallied 20 goals and four assists. During that stretch Williams was loaned to San Diego Loyal SC where he scored six goals and dished out three assists in only 12 games.
Williams spent three seasons (2016-18) with the Portland Timbers franchise and now reunites with new Indy Eleven Head Coach Sean McAuley, who was an assistant with the first team from 2012-18. He played 67 matches with Timbers2, registering 11 goals and three assists.
