Rochester Knighthawks News Release

The league has just informed the Philadelphia Wings and Rochester Knighthawks of the discipline resulting from the fights that took place at the 14:34 mark of the 4th Quarter (26 seconds remaining) after last weekend's game.

A total of eight players (four from each team) were assessed game misconduct penalties following the incident reviews. The following six players were each assessed with one game misconduct for their role in the fights:

Philadelphia: David Brock, Paul Dawson and Jordan Sealock

Rochester: Travis Hill, Kyle Laverty and Pat McCready

Each was assessed a Game Misconduct for violation of League Rule 80.15.

The two goaltenders who who fought, Kurtis Wagar of the Wings and Jake Henhawk of the Knighthawks, were each assessed with TWO game misconduct penalties. Each was found to be in violation of League Rule 80.15 and 80.13. Both rules are as follows:

80.15 SECOND FIGHT AFTER THE ORIGINAL FIGHT - A game misconduct penalty shall be imposed on a player who is assessed a major penalty for fighting after the original fight. At the discretion of the referee or the league, the automatic game misconduct penalty may be waived for a player in the fight, if the opposing player was clearly the instigator of the incident.

80.13 GOALIE LEAVING HIS CREASE DURING A FIGHT - During a fight, goalies must remain in their crease. If a goalie leaves his crease during a fight he will be assessed a minor penalty. If he gets involved in a fight he will be assessed a major and a game misconduct.

The two players who fought first, Thomas Hajek of the Wings and Tyler Burton of the Knighthawks, were assessed fighting majors in the game but not subject to any further discipline. The other players got game misconducts as they fought after the initial fight (Rule 80.15). There were no direct suspensions issued.

A reminder that any player who accrues a total of 3 game misconducts in a season gets assessed an automatic one-game suspension. This was the first game for both teams, so the misconducts issued do not push any of the players into an automatic suspension.
