United Select Akeem Ward with 14th Overall Selection at 2019 MLS SuperDraft

WASHINGTON - D.C. United have selected Creighton University defender Akeem Ward with the 14th overall selection in the 2019 MLS SuperDraft.

Ward spent three years at Creighton University after transferring from Hastings College after his freshman year. In his first season at Hastings University, Ward scored two goals and recorded five assists on the way to becoming a 2015 United Soccer Coaches (USC) Second team National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA) All-American.

At Creighton University, Ward scored two goals and recorded six assists in 47 appearances with the Bluejays. In 2018, the versatile defender earned a USC First Team All-East Region selection and was First Team All-Big East Conference.
