New Mexico United News Release

New Mexico United is thrilled to announce the signing of Jamaican International and club legend Kevaughn Frater, pending visa. Frater played for United in their inaugural season in 2019, leading the club with 17 goals in all competitions, the highest-scoring season in New Mexico United history. In his United career, Frater has averaged 0.5 goals per match, the highest scoring rate of any player in the history of the club.

"We are very excited to add Kevaughn to our group," said New Mexico United Head Coach/Technical Director Zach Prince. "Kev has a deep connection and love for this club and state. He is very excited to be back in New Mexico and ready to get to work. He has the unique ability to create opportunities for the team through getting others involved or creating chances on his own. We are very happy to have Kev back in our colors."

Frater was a key figure on the pitch, in the locker room, and in the community for United in 2019, and was known to have a flair for dramatic goals; none more important than the blast he sent past Colorado Rapids goalkeeper Clint Irwin in the 94th minute of the 2019 U.S. Open Cup third round. The low shot from distance tied the match, and United would go on to win in penalties, earning their first-ever win against MLS opposition. Despite playing just one season in Black & Yellow so far, Frater is third all-time in goals for the club.

Since moving on in 2019, Frater has played the last three seasons in India and Israel.
