Glens Falls Dragons News Release
Glens Falls: Glens Falls and Amsterdam had a match up of aces and it was Glens Falls who flinched first as they fall 7-0.
Both starters threw very well as both Glens Falls' Williams Durruthy (Florida International) and Amsterdam's Taylor Blatch (Florida State) had nearly identical lines as they both went 6 innings while striking out 5, walking 3 and allowing only 2 hits. The only difference is Durruthy gave up a solo home run to JaVon Shelby (Kentucky) in the 5th inning for the first hit of the night for the Mohawks.
The Bullpens took over in the 7th inning and the Mohawks took advantage of Eagles fielding mistakes, scoring 6 unearned runs against Nick McNeil (Nova SE.) and Brad Currao (Wagner). The Mohawks turned to Thomas Hackimer (St. Johns) and he was effective, earning the save striking out 5 in 3 innings of work.
JaVon Shelby provided the spark offensively for Amsterdam with a 2 for 4 night with the big hit being his solo home run to left.
Brandon Purcell (Georgia College) was a stand out at the plate for Glens Falls as he went 2 for 3.
These same teams will face off again tomorrow July 1st at 630 in Amsterdam at Shuttleworth Park.
