UIF Names Week Five Players of the Week

Omaha, NE - United Indoor Football (UIF) is pleased to announce that Matt Kohn, Anthony "Champ" Kelly and Dillon Pieffer have been named the three players receiving Players of the Week awards for their efforts in Week 5.

Matt Kohn of the Ohio Valley Greyhounds (2-3) won his second Offensive Player of the Week in a row after he led his team to a victory over the Bloomington Extreme (2-3) last Saturday, 67-29. Kohn threw for 220 yards passing from 19 of 27 attempts. He connected on a franchise record, 7 touchdown passes. This is the second week in a row that Kohn has broken the Greyhounds record after he threw for 6 last weekend. Kohn also rushed for one touchdown to take part in 48 of the Hounds 67 points in their second victory in a row on the season. The Greyhounds will welcome in the undefeated Sioux Falls Storm (5-0) on Saturday for Week 6 action with a kick-off at 7:30 pm EST.

Receiving the Defensive Player of the Week award for the first time this season was Anthony "Champ" Kelly from the Lexington Horsemen (4-0.) Champ made 13 solo tackles and one assisted tackle in the Horsemen victory over the Evansville BlueCats (1-4) in Week 5. Kelly also had one tackle for a loss of 4-yards and one pass break-up. Kelly has totaled 30.5 tackles on the season to lead the Horsemen and sits in fifth position league wide with 7.6 tackles a game. The Horsemen host the Ft. Wayne Freedom (3-2) on Friday night with a 7:30 pm EST kick-off.

For the second time this season, Rock River Raptor (3-2) kicker, Dillon Pieffer has been awarded the Special Teams Player of the Week after the Raptors victory over the Peoria Rough Riders (0-4) last weekend. Pieffer connected on an amazing 10 for 10 Point After Touchdown (PAT's) attempts. Pieffer did not have an opportunity on a field goal during the night. His 100% completion for PAT's places him third in the league with scoring by a kick with 43 points on the season and second in PAT percentage with 84.6%, just behind Omaha's Ted Retzlaff's 95%. The Raptors host Retzlaff and the Omaha Beef (2-3) this Saturday at 7:30 pm CST.

Receiving honorable mention nominations were (QB) Ben Sankey from Rock River, (LB) John Winchester in Evansville and (WR) Craig Kastning of the Bloomington Extreme.
