 Austin FC News Release
Austin, TEXAS - U.S. Soccer announced today that the United States Women's National Team (USWNT) will travel to Austin to face the Republic of Ireland in an international friendly match on April 8, 2023. The match will kick off at 1:30 p.m. CT and will be televised nationally on TNT.
The USWNT - defending FIFA Women's World Cup champions - returns to Q2 Stadium for the first time since June 2021, when it played the first-ever match at the venue against Nigeria in front of a sold-out crowd. The USA and Ireland will face each other again on April 11 in St. Louis, marking the final international matches for the USWNT before Head Coach Vlatko Andonovski and his staff choose the USA's 23-player FIFA World Cup roster.
"Q2 Stadium is honored to once again provide a stage for women's soccer in Austin," said Austin FC President Andy Loughnane. "The US Women's National Team will always hold the distinction as opening Q2 Stadium, and we're proud to once again offer fans one of the final opportunities to cheer on the USWNT, in person, before this summer's World Cup."
Both nations qualified for the 2023 FIFA World Cup, taking place from July 20 to August 20 in Australia and New Zealand. The USWNT will play the Netherlands, Vietnam, and Portugal in group play, while Ireland is set to face Australia, Canada, and Nigeria.
Austin FC season ticket members will have access to a ticket pre-sale from 10 a.m. CT on Thursday, March 2. Tickets will become available to the general public at 10 a.m. CT on Monday, March 6 via ussoccer.com.
