February 23, 2023 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
Inter Miami CF News Release
Inter Miami CF announced today it has signed goalkeeper Cole Jensen, who was selected by the Club in the Major League Soccer (MLS) SuperDraft 2023 with the 18th overall pick, to a contract running through the 2023 Major League Soccer (MLS) season, with Club options for the 2024 and 2025 campaigns.
"We are excited to strengthen our squad with a young talented goalkeeper like Cole to provide depth in that position and we're excited to see his development within the Club during the upcoming season," said Inter Miami CF Chief Soccer Officer and Sporting Director Chris Henderson.
"I am very grateful to the Club for having taken a chance on me in the SuperDraft and now granting a contract with the First Team. I am excited to continue working hard on my game to grow as a player as much as possible in my first year with Inter Miami. We have a great goalkeeper unit and I can learn a lot from my most experienced teammates. The Club's confidence in me, gives me confidence as well. I am really excited," said Jensen.
The Council Bluffs, Iowa native who has been training with Inter Miami's First Team during the 2023 preseason is coming off of a whirlwind junior year playing NCAA Division I soccer at Xavier University in the 2022 season. The 21-year-old was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year, alongside an All-BIG EAST First Team Selection. He was also named to the United Soccer Coaches NCAA Division I Men's All-American Third Team, the United Soccer Coaches All-East Region First Team Selection, and adidas MLS College Showcase all in 2022. He was also BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week two times during the 2022 season. His selection as an All-American was only the second in school history, and was the third Goalkeeper of the Year for the program. He ranked second in goals against average with 0.89, fifth in conference in total saves with 59, and third in school history in shutouts with eight. He helped the Xavier Musketeers match the program record for longest unbeaten streak to start a season with 14 matches, and set the program record for fewest losses in a season with two.
