
U.S. Nat'l Under-17 Team Tops First-Place St. Louis, 4-1

CHESTERFIELD, Mo. - Three different players notched multi-point efforts and goaltender Nick Maricic (Alta Loma, Calif.) turned aside a season-high 39 shots, as the U.S. National Under-17 Team skated to a 4-1 victory over the St. Louis Bandits here Friday night.
Brown put Team USA ahead 1-0 just 2:26 into the game, thanks to assists from Kevin Lynch (Grosse Pointe, Mich.) and Jerry D'Amigo (Binghamton, N.Y.). He struck again at the 18:59 mark of the first period, in what proved to be the game-winning goal for the visitors. D'Amigo and Drew Shore (Denver, Colo.) each provided helpers on the play.
The Bandits got on the scoreboard at 10:12 of the second frame as Kyle O'Kane tallied off an assist from Mike Merrifield.
Kenny Ryan (Franklin Village, Mich.) gave Team USA an insurance goal at the 1:00 mark of the third period. A.J. Treais (Bloomfield Hills, Mich.) and Zach Golembiewski (St. Clair, Mich.) each doled out helpers for Team USA. Lynch allowed the U.S. National Under-17 Team to open up a three-goal advantage with just 1:25 left in the final stanza. Brown and D'Amigo each picked up their third points of the contest, by distributing assists on the goal.
Netminder Cal Heeter finished with 19 saves in the loss for St. Louis.
The U.S. Nat'l Under-17 Team (30-27-2) completes its weekend series with the Bandits tomorrow night at the Summit Center. Opening faceoff is slated for 7 p.m. CDT.
Notes: Chris Brown (two goals, one assist), Jerry D'Amigo (three assists) and Kevin Lynch (one goal, one assist) each pitched in multi-point games for Team USA ... Brown recorded his fourth game-winning goal of the season.
