U.S. Cellular the official wireless provider of the Portland Pirates

PORTLAND, Me., Nov. 1, 2007-U.S. Cellular announced today its continued sponsorship agreement with the Portland Pirates, making U.S. Cellular the team's official wireless provider. As part of the partnership, U.S. Cellular is sponsoring the Portland Pirates' player's cards and the Kids New Years Celebration with an indoor fireworks display. The company will also offer exciting game promotions and giveaways during the 2007-2008 season handing out thunder sticks, text gloves, and clappers to fans on their way into the arena.

"We've experienced great success in Portland and we're extremely proud of our association with the Portland Pirates," said Dana Dorcas, senior director of sales with U.S. Cellular. "Many of our customers and associates are Portland Pirates fans, and we are pleased to give back to our communities with fun and affordable family entertainment."

In addition to the sponsorship, the Portland Pirates' management team and arena crew utilize U.S. Cellular's BlackBerry® and cell phone services. "Having a BlackBerry® greatly improves management's ability to respond to issues and communicate with one another while away from the office," adds Petrovek.

U.S. Cellular, serving Maine since 1988, is the only wireless carrier providing service throughout the entire state on its own network with more than 245 cell sites in service. U.S. Cellular currently employs more than 160 retail sales associates throughout Maine and operates 59 retail stores, kiosks, and authorized agent locations.

In addition, U.S. Cellular associates conduct free wireless phone call programs for seniors, veterans, and those less fortunate throughout the year at organizations such as the Hammond Street Senior Center, Bangor Area Homeless Shelter, and the Togus VA Medical Center.

Season tickets for the Pirates 2007-08 season are now on sale at the Pirates office, located at 94 Free Street in Portland. This season the Pirates are offering exciting new ticket options including seating in the Funtown Splashtown Family Fun Zone hosted by Jolly John. Fans can also purchase reserved seating ticket plans for 10 games, 20 games and the full season for as low as $60.
