U of L Grad Gets "FIRED UP"

June 5, 2007 - arenafootball2 (af2) - Louisville Fire News Release

Louisville, KY - The Louisville Fire Arena Football team would like to announce Marty Lowe as the new Director of Football Operations. Lowe joins the Louisville Fire after coaching at Western Carolina University in 2005-2006 where he served as the Offensive Coordinator and quarterback and running backs coach. While there Lowe was fortunate enough to coach Darius Fudge and Lamont Reid who were both All Southern Conference players. Reid continued as a free agent with the Tennessee Titans of the NFL. In 2005 Western Carolina also played for the Southern Conference Championship.

In 2003 Lowe was the head coach for the Arena Football League Georgia Force. As head coach he led the team to a record eight wins and the team's first ever post-season appearance. At the time, Lowe was the youngest person ever to coach in the AFL.

Prior to his coaching and playing in the AFL Lowe was quarterback of the University of Louisville Cardinals from 1991-1995. In college, Lowe started 22 consecutive games and passed for 2,268 total yards including 16 touchdowns his senior year. Lowe now joins three other players in Louisville history that have passed for over 2,000 yards in back to back seasons. After his college playing days he joined the U of L coaching staff in 1997 where he broke down game and practice tape.

As a native of Chattanooga, TN Lowe was Mr. Football at Red Bank High School in 1990. Marty and his wife Michelle have two children, son Bryce and daughter Reese.
