Texas Tycoons News Release
Dallas, TX - The Texas Tycoons are preparing to host the Waco Wranglers at the Desoto Town Center in Desoto, Texas. Tip-off is at 7pm and the Tycoons are expecting another sell out crowd Friday, December 29th.
Texas comes into the game riding high on three successive wins, at home versus the Arkansas Aeros, on the road at the Houston Takers, and back at home last week against the Waco Wranglers. The Texas Tycoons, now 12-4 on the season, will look to provide the convincing win needed to move up in the ABA power rankings. Currently ranked #6 in the league, only 24 teams are invited to participate in the ABA post season with the top 8 seeds receiving a bye in the first round and home court advantage in round 2.
Now at the half way point in the season Coach Terrell was asked about the Tycoon's chances this season and stated "I think most coaches break their season's into segments and set small goals for their teams to accomplish. Although I understand the reasoning in this logic, we prefer to look at the season as two parts; the part that gets you a high ranking for the playoffs and the part that is winning playoff basketball games. Our goals here are simple, make the next play, win the next game, and we'll go about accomplishing that Friday night but the ultimate goal is winning when it counts and post season success is critical to every member of this organization. Each game between now and then will help prepare this team to achieve their goals."
Seven (7) of the Texas Tycoons players worked their way to a roster spot via the team tryouts in October. One such player, Randall Williams (6'8''-C-82, college: Tarleton St.), is a 6'8 starting power forward from Fort Worth, Texas that has had individual and team success this season. "Randall is the the type of player that puts his hard hat on and goes to work each day. He plays hard, defends, rebounds, and gives the team inside scoring to go along with a nice mid-range face up game. Although a rookie in the professional game, Randall has worked hard to continue to take his game to the next level. He has improved his lower and upper body strength, become quicker and more athletic in the process; now featuring a 38" verticle jump, and has been finely tuning his marksmen touch from the elbows and short corners. He really has been an excellent example to show that hard work, a good attitude, and a team first mentality go a long way in becoming a part of a winning organization."
Randall Williams and the Texas Tycoons will face the Waco Wranglers Friday at 7pm at the Desoto Town Center in Desoto, Texas. The team is expecting another sell-out and is asking patrons to arrive early to guarentee seeting.
