Rochester RazorSharks News Release
(Rochester, New York)...The defending ABA champion Rochester RazorSharks beat the Cape Cod Frenzy 92-88 on Thursday night to set two franchise records on home court. The RazorSharks, who raised their record to 10-4, won their 24th consecutive home game at The Blue Cross Arena, setting a local professional basketball record for consecutive home wins. Rochester also set a new franchise attendance record as 7,858 fans flocked to the arena to see the RazorSharks win.
The CBA Rochester Zeniths won 23 straight home games at the Dome Arena during the 1978-79 season and the NBA Rochester Royals won 23 straight home games at the Edgerton Arena from Nov. 1, 1949, through Feb. 7, 1950. The RazorSharks' home win streak stretches into last year's regular season and playoffs, and they last lost at home on November 24, 2005.
Forward James "Mook" Reaves scored 16 of his season-high 34 points in the fourth quarter as Rochester overcame a 10 point deficit in the fourth quarter for their third straight win. Forward Eric Coley had 14 points and nine rebounds while guard Lazarus Sims and guard Demond Stewart each scored 10 points. Steve Hailey had 25 points to lead Cape Cod as the Frenzy dropped to 6-5.
The RazorSharks return to action on Sunday, December 31 - New Year's Eve - as they host the Quebec City Kebekwa at 5:05 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. Teen rock idol Teddy Geiger will perform a live concert after the game in a unique basketball-concert double-header on New Year's Eve in downtown Rochester.
Note: OurSports Central no longer actively covers the American Basketball Association (ABA) as a professional league due in part to its inability to publish and play a schedule and the transitory nature of many of its teams.
