River City Rascals News Release

O'FALLON, MO - The River City Rascals were unable to hold onto two leads in the final two innings and then lost composure in falling to Windy City by the score of 4-3. The ThunderBolts scored twice in the ninth inning off of Rascals closer Pat Evers, the final run scoring on a bases loaded walk by 1B Ben Diggins.

The game did not end though without much controversy on a play made at third base. Jose Castanon fielded a throw by SS Mike Cockrell on a ground ball hit by Windy City CF Doug Schutt. Cockrell threw to third because ThunderBolts SS Scott Vetter over ran the bag at third. Castanon applied the tag but the umpire called him safe and then an argument ensued. River City's Mike Madrid was ejected from the ballgame.

Windy City scored the first run of the game on a ground out by Diggins off of River City starter Brian Keating. The Rascals would tie it in the fourth on a sacrifice fly by Eddie Guessford. The score would stay the same until the 8th inning when River City took the lead on a wild pitch thrown by the Thunderbolts Noah Russo with Cockrell on third base.

After Windy City tied it in the 8th, the Rascals would reclaim the lead at 3-2 on a throwing error by 3B Anthony Seratelli with runners on 1st and 2nd. But the ThunderBolts would score the final two runs of the game on two hits, two walks, and a costly error to put an end to the Rascals longest winning streak of the season.

The Rascals will try to even up the series with Windy City Saturday Night from Hawkinson Ford Field in Crestwood, IL. The game starts at 6:05 and you can hear all the action on the official radio home for the River City Rascals, 100.7 FM KFNS. The Rascals will return home Thursday, June 29th when they give away Can Coozies sponsored by Jayson B. Lenox, Attorney at Law.
