Erie, PA - The Erie SeaWolves pushed across an unearned run in the bottom of the 12th inning and walked off with a 2-1 win over the Harrisburg Senators at Jerry Uht Park, evening the best-of-five Western Division Championship Series at one game apiece.
Jamie Johnson singled with two out to bring up Eugenio Suarez, who hit a ground ball to short. Sean Nicol made a diving stop, but threw the ball away as he attempted to record the force out at second base. Johnson came all the way around to score the winning run. Both SeaWolves runs on the night were unearned.
Erie took the lead in the fourth inning. Tyler Collins led off with a single and James McCann reached on an error by third baseman Carlos Rivero. Marcus Lemon advanced both runners into scoring position with a sacrifice bunt, and Wade Gaynor delivered a sacrifice-fly to score Collins.
Erie held the 1-0 lead until the eighth, when the Senators rallied to tie the game. Sean Nicol doubled to the opposite field in right center to open the inning. He advanced to third on a wild pitch and two batters later, Jeff Howell came through with a sacrifice-fly to deep right field.
Taylor Hill tossed six strong innings and scattered five hits. The right-hander walked two and struck out a pair. Warwick Saupold went eight innings for Erie, allowing just four hits and a run. He walked one and fanned seven. Justin Souza earned the win for the SeaWolves with two shutout innings in relief.
Tomorrow, the best-of-five Western Division Championship Series shifts to Harrisburg for Game 3. Game time is 7:00 p.m. and the game can be heard on 1460am The Ticket, on the Internet through the Senators website, and it's available through iHeart Radio beginning with the pregame show at 6:40 p.m.
