
Two Lumberjacks Crack NHL Central Scouting's "Players to Watch" List

MUSKEGON, Michigan (November 14th) - In coordination with the United States Hockey League, NHL Central Scouting has released their preliminary "Players to Watch" List in preparation for the 2014 NHL Entry Draft taking place June 27-28th in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and the list includes two current Lumberjacks in Defenseman Janik Moeser and Goaltender Eric Schierhorn.
Janik Moeser, the Mannheim, Germany native, is currently rated as a "C-Skater" by NHL Central Scouting meaning that if the draft started today, he is projected to be a 4th-6th-round draft pick. The defenseman was acquired by Muskegon in a trade with the Sioux Falls Stampede this past July and has totaled three assists in 17 games played this season with the Lumberjacks. Moeser is committed to the Ohio State University out of the Big Ten Conference following his junior career.
Eric Schierhorn, the Anchorage, Alaska native, is currently rated as a "C-Goaltender" meaning that he, like Moeser, is a projected 4th-6th-round NHL draft pick. Schierhorn is currently in his first season with Muskegon and has appeared in eight games compiling a 4-4-0 record to along with a 2.35 goals-against average, a .927 save percentage, and one shutout.
Additionally, four of the Lumberjacks' affiliate players have made the cut on the initial "Players to Watch" List in Forwards Steven Spinner (Eden Prairie High School), Dylan Malmquist (Edina High School), and James Winkler (Portland Jr. Pirates - USPHL Premier) along with Defenseman Luc Snuggerud (Eden Prairie High School).
Steven Spinner, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota native, comes in rated as a "B-skater" meaning that he is slotted to be a potential 2nd-3rd-round NHL Draft pick this summer. Spinner was drafted by Muskegon in the 7th-round (92nd overall) during the 2012 USHL Entry Draft and is committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha out of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference following his junior career. This season, Spinner has also appeared in three games with the Lumberjacks notching two goals and an assist to go along with a plus-three rating.
Luc Snuggerud, the Eden Prairie, Minnesota native, is rated right now as "C-Skater" by NHL Central Scouting and was drafted by the Lumberjacks in the 16th-round (227th overall) during the 2012 USHL Entry Draft. Snuggerud, like Spinner, will be heading the University of Nebraska-Omaha following his junior career and also appeared in three games for the Lumberjacks this season recording one goal and two assists to go along with a plus-three rating that included earning the USHL's "Co-Defenseman of the Week" honors for this week.
Dylan Malmquist, the Edina, Minnesota native, also receives a "C-Skater" rating from the NHL scouts and was drafted by the Lumberjacks in 1st round (10th overall) during the 2012 USHL Futures Draft. Malmquist is committed to the University of Notre Dame out of the Hockey East Association following his junior career.
James Winkler, the York, Maine native, comes into the early season with a "C-Skater" rating from NHL Central Scouting and was drafted by Muskegon in the 3rd-round (37th overall) during the 2013 USHL Phase Two Draft. Winkler is committed to Northeastern University out of the Hockey East Association following his junior career.
The Lumberjacks will play a home-and-home weekend series against the Youngstown Phantoms this weekend beginning tomorrow night in Youngstown at 7:05 pm and concluding Saturday in Muskegon at 7:15 pm.
Saturday's game features Shoe-Lover Night presented by Designer Shoe Warehouse where each fan in attendance will receive a special gift from Designer Shoe Warehouse, and there will also be fun-filled activities for the women in attendance including those presented by Glamazon Artistic Hair Styles.
