Two Knighthawks Named to NLL All-Rookie Team

For the first time in team history, the Rochester Knighthawks placed two players on the 2012 National Lacrosse League's All-Rookie Team with the selection of Johnny Powless and Stephen Keogh.

Powless won his second postseason award, as he also won the 2012 NLL Sportsmanship Award. The Six Nations forward was the fifth overall pick in the 2011 NLL Entry Draft. Powless finished the season with 50 points and only 10 penalty minutes in 16 games. He was named the Knighthawks' Rookie of the Year after finishing fourth on the team in points. Additionally, three times he won the NLL Rookie of the Week, including winning back-to-back honors (4/06 to 4/14).

As an 18 year old, he was named an East Division All-Star Reserve and scored a goal in his All-Star debut. In his playoff debut, he scored one goal and added one assist in the Knighthawks' 14-13 win over the Philadelphia Wings in the East Division Semifinals. He has eight points in two playoff games (3+5).

Keogh earns the All-Rookie Team selection after finishing third on the team with 58 points and third among rookie point producers. He saved his best game for the regular season finale on April 28 th, as he scored a career-high four goals and tied his career high with six points to help the K-Hawks earn a home playoff game. He was named the league's top rookie for Week 17. The second overall pick has five points in two playoff games. In college, Keogh won two national championships at Syracuse University (2008 and 2009), where he was a three-time All-American.

The Knighthawks will host the Edmonton Rush in the 2012 Champion's Cup Finals on Saturday, May 19th at 7:30 p.m. at The Blue Cross Arena. The game will be televised live on CBS Sports Network, which is available on Time Warner Cable Channel 232 and 1027 in HD. The game will be carried on Sportsradio 950 ESPN and www.sportsradio950espn.com.
