Spokane Chiefs News Release

With two games this weekend, both on the road, the Chiefs know they are one win, or one Portland loss in regulation away from clinching a spot in the post- season. Spokane, winners of three in a row and four of their last five, are currently 30-20-3-3 with 66 points and in second place. The top five teams in the U.S. Division will advance to the playoffs with the top two seeds earning home-ice advantage. The most points Portland, the fifth place team in the division, can finish with is 68 points.

Spokane will travel to Everett on Friday night for a 7:30 date with the Silvertips, the first place team in the division. In five games, the Chiefs are 4-1 versus the Silvertips including a 1-0 win on January 5th in their last meeting. Kevin Armstrong stopped 23 shots for the win. Mike Boyle will go on the air at 7:00 with Comcast Hockey Tonight on KJRB 790 the Fan.

Saturday, the Chiefs will travel to Kennewick to take on the Americans for the 10th time this season. Eight of the previous nine games have been one goal games and three have gone into overtime. Last Saturday in Spokane the Chiefs earned a 4-3 win over Tri-City in front of the largest crowd of the year, 10,366. The game will be broadcast from the Tri-City's on Comcast Channel 12. Gametime is scheduled for 7:00 with Mike Boyle going on the air at 6:30 on KJRB 790 the Fan.

Spokane will make the trip without Drayson Bowman who injured his arm on Thursday during practice. The forward will be out an indefinite amount of time. The 17-year-old is third on the team in goals scored with 21 and has posted five goals and 11 points in his last 11 games. The Littleton, CO native participated in the CHL's Top Prospects Game on January 17th, an event reserved for the top 40 draft eligible players in the CHL.

Before the Chiefs return home on February 17th, Spokane will play two more road games, Wednesday, February 14th at Kamloops and Friday the 16th at Seattle.

The Chiefs are one point on top of Tri-City for second place in the U.S. Division, but the Americans have four games in hand. Seattle trails Spokane by seven points.
