
Two Icehawks Receive Weekly Honors

PORT HURON, MI - Two Port Huron Icehawks have received weekly honors from the International Hockey League for the week ending Sunday, February 15, the league announced Monday. Larry Sterling was named IHL Goaltender of the Week and Derek Patrosso was selected as Rookie of the Week.
Sterling completed the weekend with a 1-0-1-0 record, 38 total saves and a save percentage of .928. He allowed only three goals against in two games, giving him a 1.43 goals against average for the week. He surrendered just one goal in the Icehawks 8-1 victory over Flint on Friday. On Sunday, he made 22 saves in the Icehawks 2-1 overtime loss against Muskegon.
The 26-year old native of Lake Orion, Michigan continues to lead the league in wins (19), minutes (2067:09) and saves (876). This is his third league honor this season. He was named Goaltender of the Week in Week 12 and Goaltender of the Month for January.
Patrosso tallied points in all three games the Icehawks played last weekend for a total of five points (2g, 3a) and a +4 rating. He amassed three points in Saturday's 5-4 overtime loss in Kalamazoo for his fourth multi-point game this season.
The 24-year old native of Northville, Michigan has put up eight points (4g, 4a) in his last ten games. He leads all Icehawks rookies in goals (12), assists (16), and points (28) and is ranked sixth among active league rookies in scoring. This is his second league honor this season. He was also named Rookie of the Week in Week 11.
The Icehawks play a mini-series with Bloomington this week. They host the PrairieThunder on Wednesday then hit the road for a pair of games at Bloomington.
