
IHL Weekly Honors For Week Eighteen

ROCHESTER, MI--- The International Hockey League (IHL) announced Monday that Bloomington center Jon Booras has been named the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week, Port Huron forward Derek Patrosso has been named the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week and Port Huron goaltender Larry Sterling has been named the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Sunday, February 15th, 2009.
Booras finished the week with six points (2g, 4a) and a plus-3 rating in two games played this week. He scored his two goals on nine shots he took. Booras notched in a PrairieThunder team-high five points in the PrairieThunder's 7-1 victory in Muskegon Friday night, going plus-5 during the game. The five point night marks the 19th time this season that Booras has registered a multi-point game. The 26-year-old Billings, Montana native is currently second among all IHL players in scoring with 67 points (28 goals, 39 assists).
Other players nominated for the Pepsi IHL Player of the Week include: Flint forward Steve Rymsha, Fort Wayne center Mathieu Curadeau, Kalamazoo left wing Lucas Drake, Muskegon right wing Robin Bouchard and Port Huron left wing Tab Lardner.
Patrosso earns his second rookie of the week honor this season. He finished the week notching in two goals and dishing out three assists with a plus-4 rating in three games played by the Icehawks. He scored one of his two goals on the Icehawks power play, giving him his second goal on the man advantage this season. Patrosso notched in three points Saturday in the 5-4 overtime loss in Kalamazoo, marking his fourth multi-point game this season. The 24-year-old Northville, Michigan native is currently riding a three game point streak.
Other players nominated for the Aquafina IHL Rookie of the Week include: Bloomington forward Bill Bagron, Flint forward Zach Pearson, Fort Wayne center Rick Varone, Kalamazoo forward Rick Cleaver and Muskegon defenseman Adam Bartholomay.
Sterling finished the week with a 1-0-1-0 record, making a total of 38 saves for a save percentage of .928. He only allowed three goals against in two starts, giving him a 1.43 goals against average for the week. Friday, he held Flint to only one goal while his team exploded for eight goals, earning the 8-1 victory over the Generals. Sunday, he made a total of 22 saves in the 2-1 overtime loss against the Lumberjacks. The 26-year-old Lake Orion, Michigan native currently leads all IHL goaltenders in games played (35), wins (19), minutes played (2067:09) and saves (876).
Other players nominated for the Southern Sports Supply IHL Goaltender of the Week include: Bloomington's Jason Wolfe, Fort Wayne's Nick Boucher, Kalamazoo's Joel Martin and Muskegon's Clayton Pool.
