Two Former Ice Flyers Participate in AHL Training Camps

PENSACOLA, Fla. (Oct. 7, 2015) - Former Ice Flyers Cody Ferriero and Paul Rodrigues just concluded participating in American Hockey League training camps.

"Paul and Cody deserve the opportunities they've gotten," said Ice Flyers Head Coach Rod Aldoff. "They're both very talented and you could see from the first day of practice they were players that were going to move up the ladder of pro hockey. I wish them the best as they continue their careers."

Ferriero, a forward who is now currently signed with the ECHL's Rapid City Rush, attended camp with the Springfield Falcons. Both the Falcons and the Rush as affiliated with the NHL's Arizona Coyotes. During his time with Ice Flyers, Ferriero was one of the offensive leaders in the entire SPHL and had 13 goals, 18 assists, 17 penalty minutes (PIM), and a +14 plus/minus rating in 23 games. After joining the ECHL's Rapid City Rush, Ferriero averaged over a point per game with 20 goals, 25 assists, 28 PIM, and a +10 in 39 games played.

Rodrigues, also a forward, was in camp with the Hartford Wolf Pack and is currently in camp with the ECHL's Greenville Swamp Rabbits. Both Hartford and Greenville are affiliated with the New York Rangers. While with Pensacola during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 seasons, Rodrigues was also a top performer in the league had nine goals, 23 assists, 17 PIM, and a +10 in 27 games. While with the Greenville Road Warriors last season, Rodrigues appeared in 53 games and had eight goals, 11 assists, and 37 penalty minutes.

The Ice Flyers begin their 2015 training camp next Wednesday, Oct. 14, with two sessions, a morning session at 9:30 a.m. and another in the evening at 5 p.m.
