Montreal Alouettes News Release
Montreal - On Sunday, September 30, the Montreal Alouettes will hold a game in honour of the Canadian Armed Forces. On that day, the Saskatchewan Roughriders will be in town. The theme of this first fall game is a nod to the history of the team who was named after the 425 Tactical Fighter Squadron, the first French-Canadian Squadron of the Royal Canadian Air Force known for its tenacity and dedication.
As part of the game festivities, two CT-155 Hawk aircrafts will overfly Percival Molson Memorial Stadium (located at the bottom of Mount Royal) twice. While the spectacular flyovers will be short, they will cause noise that is likely to surprise passersby and the residents of surrounding neighbourhoods.
The Montreal Alouettes apologize for the inconvenience this noise may cause and invite fans to look up to sky at 1:04 p.m. and 1:08 p.m. precisely on Sunday, September 30. More activities featuring members of the Canadian Armed Forces, such as the interpretation of the national anthem are also part of the program. The team will be wearing its signature uniformed which was specially designed to honour the 425 Squadron.
For this game, linebacker Nicolas Boulay has exceptionally invited 52 military members and their families to attend the game in the Club 52. Also, Members of the Maisonneuve Regiment will attend the team's practice on Friday and will get to meet the players following practice.
