Two Carmel Natives in Ice Line-Up

October 11, 2013 - United States Hockey League (USHL)
Indiana Ice News Release

INDIANAPOLIS-The Indiana Ice has added forward Joe Chitwood to the line-up for Saturday night's 7:05 pm contest against the Youngstown Phantoms from Bankers Life Fieldhouse. Chitwood will be making his Ice debut during the Saturday night tilt.

Chitwood was drafted by Indy in the 2013 USHL Entry Draft and played in two preseason games for the club.

The 5-9, 190-pound winger is a native of Carmel, IN and a 2013 graduate of Carmel High School. He spent the last three seasons as a member of the Indiana Junior Ice program and was the captain of the 2013 NAPHL championship club where he compiled 17 goals and 17 assists in 45 games.

Chitwood joins another player from Carmel, IN in Saturday's line-up as defenseman Michael Preston grew up playing youth hockey in the area and played his high school years at Culver Academy in northern Indiana. Preston has been in the line-up for all five Ice games this year after spending last season with the Muskegon Lumberjacks (USHL).

Chitwood will join defensemen Grant Hutton and David Drake and forward Mason Jobst as one of four Indiana Junior Ice alumni to suit up in the USHL. Previous Junior Ice players to have skated in the league include defenseman Cameron Schilling (Hershey-AHL) and Matt Smith and forwards Jake Skjodt and Alex Handy.

Single-game tickets start at $11 for Bankers Life Fieldhouse games and there is a $2 discount for children 10 and under and seniors 62 and over. Tickets can be purchased through Ticketmaster by calling 1-800-745-3000, online at ticketmaster.com or by visiting select Wal-Mart and Simon Mall locations and the Bankers Life Fieldhouse box office.

Indiana Ice group tickets are on sale now, in addition to flex books starting at $125. For more information on tickets, call the Indiana Ice at (317) 925-4423.
