Spokane Chiefs News Release

Wednesday night the Chiefs will host the Calgary Hitmen in the first of 11 TicketsWest Player Magnet Giveaways. The first 1,000 fans through the gates will receive a collector's edition magnet of one of their favorite players from the 2010-11 season courtesy of TicketsWest and NOW 105.7.

It will be the first time since December 3rd, 2008 that the Chiefs will host Calgary. Last season, in their lone trip to Calgary, the Chiefs overcame a one goal deficit, scored twice in a 24-second span to come from behind and beat the Hitmen 3-2. Tyler Johnson has scored a goal against Calgary in their last two games. James Reid made 24 saves in last year's win.

Prior to last year, the Chiefs and Hitmen went to overtime in three straight years. Calgary won a 4-3 shootout on February 2nd, 2007 in Spokane. On November 30th, 2007 Spokane earned a 2-1 decision in Calgary and then a 4-3 shootout win in 2008 in the Arena. The Hitmen are the defending WHL Champions.

CHIEFS HOST RED DEER ON SATURDAY

The fifth of six straight home games will take place on Saturday night when the Chiefs host the Red Deer Rebels on Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort Hotel Night. Entering the week Spokane has posted a 2-2 record at home, including last Saturday night's win over the Everett Silvertips.

It will be their only meeting of the season between each other and the first time they have played in Spokane since a 2-0 Chiefs' win on November 5th, 2008. Levko Koper's power play goal 5:06 into the first period proved to be the game winner as Spokane finished 1-3 on the power play and 5-5 on the penalty kill. James Reid made 27 saves in his first career shutout.

Last season, on November 21st, 2009, Spokane dropped a 3-2 decision at Red Deer. Spokane outhsot the Rebels 36-23 and Tyler Johnson scored both Chief goals. Since 1992-93 the Chiefs are 15-10 with one tie against Red Deer and 11-5 in their last 16 meetings.

Fans will have the chance to win great prizes from Coeur d'Alene Casino Resort Hotel throughout the night.
