FORT MYERS, FL (August 4, 2009) - The Minnesota Twins announced today that Fort Myers Miracle right-hander pitcher David Bromberg has been named the Twins Minor League Player of the Week ending on July 31.
Bromberg was 2-0 with a 0.73 ERA in two starts, striking out 12 over 12 2/3 innings. The 21-year-old is 10-1 with a 2.63 ERA this season for the Miracle. His next start will be Friday, August 7 when the Miracle host the Charlotte Stone Crabs.
The Los Angeles resident was a 32nd round pick by the Twins in the 2005 MLB Draft. He led the Twins organization in strikeouts with 177 at Single-A Beloit in 2008.
A potential playoff preview highlights the upcoming week for the Miracle. The first-half South Division Champions trail Charlotte by one game, while the Stone Crabs have a four-game playoff lead. The Miracle host their closest rival tonight, Thursday and Friday at 7:05 p.m.
