Twin City Collects Five Points in Three Games

Cyclones Fall in OT to FireAntz, 4-3

January 31, 2009 Winston-Salem, NC

Fueled from their win against Fayetteville Friday night, the Cyclones were looking to get their seventh win in a row Saturday night against the FireAntz. Even though the Cyclones made a great attempt with a late comeback, the FireAntz were able to edge them out in overtime, 4-3. Even with the loss, the Cyclones collected one point. All three of the Twin City goals came in the third period. Scoring for the Cyclones: Mike Richard, Donald Melnyk, and Phil Sbrocchi. Twin City will take to the ice for their next game on Friday in Richmond.

Cyclones Extend Winning Streak to Six; Beat FireAntz, 3-2

The Twin City Cyclones, with a five-game winning streak under their belts, welcomed the FireAntz to the LJVM Coliseum Annex, looking to extend their streak of victories to six. The match remained close throughout the periods, but Twin City came out on top by a score of 3-2. With this victory, Twin City is in possession of fourth place in the SPHL standings, and one point out of third. Scoring for the Cyclones: Michael Richard, Taylor Hustead, and Phil Sbrocchi.

Cyclones Increase Winning Streak to Five with OT Win Over Richmond

January 29, 2009 Winston-Salem, NC

For the first contest of the week, the Cyclones traveled to Richmond Wednesday night in hopes of securing another win, their fifth in a row. Although the game was closely contested, Twin City came out on top in overtime, 4-3. Scoring for the Cyclones: Josh Piro, Michael Richard, Donald Melnyk, and Shane Wagner had the game-winning goal in overtime. Kevin Druce recorded 36 saves.

TEAM HIGHLIGHTS:

- #7 MICHAEL RICHARD WAS SELECTED AS SHER WOOD PLAYER OF THE WEEK AND SHER WOOD PLAYER OF THE MONTH FOR JANUARY FOR THE SPHL.

- THE SIX-GAME WINNING STREAK WAS THE LONGEST FOR THE CYCLONES SO FAR THIS SEASON.
