Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release

(Wilkes-Barre) The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have been assigned the third returning member of their 2007 American Conference Championship team, William "TuTu" Ferguson.

"After coming so close to a title last year, I wanted to come back to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton to make that championship run. The Pioneers are a stand-up organization that treats their players fairly. They have great fan support and I want to bring home the ArenaCup for them," said an energetic Ferguson.

Always a fan favorite the arenafootball2 veteran will begin his fourth season overall in 2008 and his third with the Pioneers. TuTu spent the 2007 season playing mainly defense for Wilkes-Barre/Scranton. Despite missing four games with a hand injury he still managed to intercept seven passes as a lock down corner. He was third on the team with 62 tackles, 56 of them solo. Always a dynamic return man, Ferguson had 11 returns for 162 yards before being injured.

"TuTu coming back brings experience and great leadership to the team. His high energy has a big influence on everybody around him. Being form Pittsburgh myself, I have followed TuTu's career from high school to college and he has been a standout everywhere he has been" said Head Coach Rich Ingold.

A Pittsburgh native 5'10 190 pound Ferguson played four years at University of Pittsburgh where he registered 158 tackles and five interceptions from 2000-3. He also had a total of 35 punts for 356 yards and 17 kicks for 282 yards. He had 3 interceptions his senior year including a pick in the end zone of the 2003 Continental Tire Bowl.

Pioneers owners Cosmo and Janet DeNicola, Coach Ingold, TuTu and assistant to the owner Natalie Scarantino were all very excited about his return from their courtside seats at a recent Philadelphia 76ers game.

"Simply put, everybody loves TuTu," stated Mr. DeNicola.
