
Pioneers Announce 2008 Schedule

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers News Release
The 2007 American Conference Champion Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Pioneers have set their 2008 schedule in their quest for an ArenaCup championship. Their home opener comes in week three of the regular season, Friday night April 11 at 7:00 p.m. at the Wachovia Arena.
The Pioneers kick off the season week one with the spotlight game for the entire league Friday March 28 at 8:30 p.m. at Quad City. Week 2 will bring a trip to the expansion Daytona Beach Thunderbirds. The Pioneers will also play the expansion Peoria Pirates twice in 2008 with a road game in week 4 and Peoria comes to the Wachovia Arena Saturday July 12th at 7:30 p.m.

The 2008 arenafootball2 league will consist of 29 teams; each team will play a total of 16 games (eight home/eight away). The alignment consists of the American and National Conference with three divisions per conference. The East, Midwest and South Divisions fall into the American Conference, while the Central, Southwest and West compose the National Conference. Fourteen (14) teams make up the American Conference and fifteen (15) make up the National Conference. The addition of five new teams for 2008 created the need for the divisions to be adjusted from 2007. They are as follows:
