DAYTON, Ohio - Colton Turner's three innings of relief backstopped the Lansing Lugnuts (29-20) to a 5-4 series-opening victory against the Dayton Dragons (26-23) Friday at Fifth Third Field.

The Lugs retain sole possession of first place in the Eastern Division.

Turner relieved starter Conner Greene (W, 4-2) with Lansing leading, 4-2, in the bottom of the sixth. After surrendering an RBI double, Turner retired the next nine batters he faced, striking out four.

Michael Kraft came in for the ninth and allowed a run, but a force-out by Avain Rachal ended the game with the bases loaded. Kraft earned his third career save and first in the Midwest League.

Dayton starter Wyatt Strahan (Loss, 4-4) allowed four runs over 5.1 IP.

Two Lugnuts runs in the sixth inning forced Strahan out of the game. Chris Carlson (1-for-3) and Tim Locastro (1-for-4) knocked back-to-back RBI singles.

Rowdy Tellez (2-for-4), Ryan McBroom (2-for-3), and D.J. Davis (0-for-3) also had RBIs.

Tellez leads the Midwest League with 40 RBIs.

McBroom has RBIs in consecutive games to lift his total to 27, third best on the squad.

Anthony Alford led off the game with a hit and finished 1-for-4 with two runs and a walk, extending his on-base streak to 32 games.

The Lugnuts aim to take the second game of the series Saturday at 7 p.m. against the Dragons. Right-handed pitcher Sean-Reid Foley (1-1, 4.45 ERA) matches Dayton's righty Tejay Antone (3-3, 1.73 ERA).

The next Lugnuts homestand is June 3-8 with three-game series against the Burlington Bees and Peoria Chiefs. For more information, call (517) 485-4500 or visit lansinglugnuts.com.
