Tulsa Talons News Release
TULSA, Okla. - The Tulsa Talons are joining up with local celebrities and fans to raise money for the Special Olympics of Oklahoma. The Talons announced this week they would hold a benefit-bowling tournament on July 30, preceding the last home game versus the Laredo Law. The tournament's proceeds will go toward the Special Olympics of Oklahoma.
The Talons players, coaching staff and cheerleaders will participate in the tournament, along with invited media, Special Olympics athletes, and the general public. The Talons are hoping to raise money for Special Olympics to assist in the cost of their recent summer games.
Special Olympics of Oklahoma is celebrating its 35th Anniversary this year. The Special Olympics athletes will support the fundraiser by participating in the bowling tournament and attending "Special Olympics Night" at the last Talons home game. Billy Sims, Heisman Award winner, will appear at the game to support the Special Olympics by performing the coin toss.
Fans are welcome to attend Riverlanes Bowling Center to support the bowlers and cheer on the teams. The tournament will be held from 1 â 3 p.m. After the tournament's completion, prizes will be awarded to the top teams and a silent auction will be held to further benefit Special Olympics of Oklahoma.
Those who wish to participate in the bowling tournament may donate $75 to be a team member, or may sponsor a lane for $200. Bowling lane fees, snacks, and a pair of tickets to the Tulsa Talons versus Laredo Law game, are included in this donation.
Fans are encouraged to come out and support both the team, and Special Olympics. Please contact Lauren in the Talons office with questions at (918) 294-1000. Fans may also contact the Special Olympics office to purchase July 31 game tickets for their ticket fundraiser. The profits from these tickets will be given to the Special Olympics.
