Laredo Law News Release
LAREDO, Texas â Struggling with injuries at a pivotal position the Laredo Law have been assigned two players by the arenafootball2 league office. The Law was assigned quarterbacks Julius Brown and Marc Saldana. Laredo plays their final home game of the season this Saturday night against the Wichita Stealth. Kick off is set for 7:30 p.m. There will be fireworks after the game. For more information or tickets contact the Laredo Law ticket office at (956) 726-GAME (4263) or go on line at www.laredolaw.com.
With both Laredo QBs injured last Saturday in a game against the Florida Firecats, the Law was in need of immediate help at the position.
"Julius Brown is a kid that I had some film on," said Law head coach Scot Maynard. "He has a good quick release and good arm strength. He was playing in Europe this summer. When he came back from Europe he called me about three weeks ago. At the time we were set, but as soon as the injuries happened we called him and brought him in."
Brown, 6'0" 210-pounds, spent this summer in Italy with the Turino Jaguars. He passed for 1,244 yards and 14 TDs in eight games, he also rushed for more than 300 yards and 6 TDs. Last summer he played in Finland with the Pori Bears. He played his college football at Grambling State from 2001-02. He also played baseball at Grambling, and was a pitcher and outfielder. His first two years of college were spent at Blinn Junior College.
Saldana, 6'0" 205-pounds, played his college football at Texas Tech in the mid 90s. Earlier this season he played with Beaumont in the NIFL.
"He is a kid who was local, from San Antonio," said Maynard. "I like his huddle presence. In the meetings he is sharp and is getting a good grasp of the offense."
Saldana helped the Beaumont Drillers post an 8-6 record and a second place finish in the Atlantic South division of the NIFL. He completed 57% of his passes for 1,866 yards and 42 TDs in 13 games. In 2003 he spent eight games with the NIFL Austin Rockers and completed 54% of his passes for 1,071 yards and 24 TDs.
With less than a week to prepare two brand new QBs, Maynard has to make a quick decision.
"Right now I am not sure who will start, but I am sure I am going to play them both."
There will be fireworks outside the LEC after the Law game. Also the band Wildroot will perform during the game and also after the game.

The Law will have a party for season ticket holders this Saturday night after the game. You MUST present your Law season tickets for admittance to the party.
