San Diego Riptide News Release

SAN DIEGO, Calif. – The San Diego Riptide were assigned kicker Chris Arnce and reassigned Rich Ehmke to the league office. FB/LB Matt Guardia was activated from injured reserve and OL/DL Mike Wessel was placed on short term injured reserve with a back injury.

Chris Arnce returns to the ‘Tide after being reassigned to the league in Week 6 due to an injury. Arnce played in two games for San Diego. He has connected on 1-of-3 field goals and 8-of-12 PAT's. In 2003, he spent time in training camp with the Arena Football League's L.A. Avengers.

Arnce hopes to turn around a kicking squad that has plagued the team the whole season. Had the kicking squad been successful in Week 13 against Bakersfield and made all PAT's, San Diego could have come away with a win and better chance of making the post season.

Kicker Rich Ehmke was reassigned to the league office after playing in seven games for the ‘Tide. He struggled in his last three games for San Diego missing several crucial field goals and PAT's.

Matt Guardia was activated from short-term injured reserve. Mike Wessel, after returning to the ‘Tide in Week 15, was placed on short-term injured reserve with a back injury.

The Riptide are looking to stay in the play off race by coming away with a win against the Bakersfield Blitz on Saturday July 24th. Join us for our "Riptide Tackle Hunger" food drive and the first 3,000 fans will receive a free t-shirt.
