Tulsa Slips Past Mallards 2-1

Quad City Mallards News Release

TULSA, Okla. - Roman Ammirato broke a 1-1 tie 32 seconds into the third period and the host Tulsa Oilers (30-26-11) went on to defeat the Quad City Mallards (22-41-4) 2-1 Sunday.

Ammirato scored what proved to be the game winner from the doorstep. The Oilers held off the Mallards the rest of the way, even after the shorthanded Mallards pulled goaltender C.J. Motte (38 saves) to even up manpower in the final moments and then pressured in pursuit of an equalizer just before the horn.

Tulsa first moved in front when Charlie Sampair raced into the left wing circle to sweep home the opening goal at 6:38 of the first period. Chris Izmirlian's long range drive evened the score just one minute, 13 seconds later.

The Mallards return to action on the road Friday against the Rapid City Rush. The Mallards next play at home Wednesday night, April 4 at 6:35 p.m. against the Rapid City Rush. All seats for the April 4 game are available for just $5.

Tickets for the April 4 game- and all remaining Mallards regular season home games- are also now on sale at the TaxSlayer Center box office, Ticketmaster toll free charge-by-phone (1-800-745-3000) and ticketmaster.com.
