Tulsa, Okla., August 12, 2008 - The Tulsa 66ers will tip off the 2008-09 season at Rio Grande Valley on Friday, Nov. 28. The team will then travel to Austin on
Saturday, Nov. 29 before returning home for the Inaugural Home Game at the SpiritBank Event Center on Friday Dec. 5 against the Albuquerque Thunderbirds.
"We are excited that 20 out of our 24 home games will be played on weekends at the new SpiritBank Event Center in South Tulsa", said 66ers President Jim Brylewski.
"We are thrilled to provide the opportunity for our fans to experience professional basketball at affordable prices in the exciting, family-friendly environment of the new
SpirtBank Event Center."
With the addition of the Erie BayHawks and Reno Bighorns, there are 16 teams in the NBA D-League this season. Each team is affiliated with one or two NBA teams, giving fans multiple chances to see future NBA stars at the SpiritBank Event Center. Per the recent sale of the 66ers, Tulsa will be solely affiliated with the NBA Oklahoma City franchise.
The NBA D-League will continue to have three divisions for the 2008-09 season with the BayHawks and Bighorns joining the Southwest and West divisions, respectively. The Central and Southwest divisions will feature five teams each and the West division six.
