Tucson Padres News Release

The Tucson bullpen held Fresno's offense without a baserunner from the sixth inning until the end of the game Friday in the Padres 4-3 win. With injured pitcher Matt Buschmann's spot due up in the rotation, the Padres used five relievers rather than a traditional starting pitcher and held the Grizzlies to three runs on five hits. Will Inman pitched two scoreless innings and picked up the win, his first since leaving the rotation to join Tucson's bullpen.

The Padres trailed by a run in the seventh inning with two outs and two strikes when Aaron Cunningham's ground ball made its way into center field for a two-run single. Inman then pitched a scoreless bottom of the seventh to hold the lead and Evan Scribner did the same in the eighth inning. Tucson closer Brad Brach is now 2-for-2 converting saves in Triple-A after pitching a scoreless ninth.

Kyle Blanks was held hitless for the first time in weeks and ended his 23-game hitting streak, the second longest hitting streak in the 16-team PCL this season. Bobby Kielty went 0-for-1 as a pinch hitter in his first game back with Tucson from Double-A San Antonio. Everth Cabrera, Logan Forsythe and Cunningham all had three hits for the Padres.
