Triumph Adds Defender Will Mejia to Back Line

Greenville, SC - The Greenville Triumph has signed former Virginia Tech defender Will Mejia to a one-year professional contract ahead of the 2021 season, pending league and federation approval. Mejia joins a 17-man roster that includes 14 returners from the 2020 championship side.
A three-sport athlete at Falls Church High School in Virginia, Mejia was a dynamic talent in football, basketball and soccer. An All-Conference player in basketball and the Conference 13 Player of the Year in football, Mejia chose to play soccer for the Virginia Tech Hokies in 2015.
Following a redshirt year to begin his collegiate career, the 6'2" defender started in 63 games for the Hokies and scored one goal. He finished his 2019 senior season with 19 starts and a trip to the Sweet Sixteen of the NCAA Tournament. Mejia's senior class finished with the most wins since joining the ACC (46), highest-ever NCAA seed (10th), most NCAA wins (6), and most consecutive tournament appearances (4).
