MARYVILLE, ARIZ.- - The Indianapolis Indians shutdown the Sacramento RiverCats Saturday afternoon behind the starting pitching efforts of Mike Jones. Jones pitched four shutout innings, giving up just three hits in a 5-3 Tribe victory. Jones struck out five RiverCats and walked just two as the Indians improved to 3-4.
Indianapolis third baseman Scott Sheldon started the scoring for the Tribe in the second with a solo homerun. He finished the day with two RBI as did second baseman Luis Figueroa who also added two hits.
Sacramento's Matt Howe, the son of Mets skipper Art Howe, hit a solo homerun for the RiverCats in the home sixth, but the Tribe bullpen, led by southpaw Scott Wiggins, who earned the save, held on for the victory.
