Ottawa Lynx News Release

OTTAWA – After an unbelievably tough decision, Susie Grynol was the winner of the "Ottawa Lynx Superstar" competition held at the St. Laurent Shopping Centre Saturday afternoon. The event, co-sponsored by the Ottawa Lynx, BOB FM, The Team 1200, and the St. Laurent Shopping Centre, showed off the amazing talents of close to sixty of Ottawa's best singers.

Ranging in age from 6 to 52, contestants bravely went on stage and sang a-capella to the captive audience. Five finalists were chosen by a panel of celebrity judges from the preliminary round, and were asked to sing again in the final round. After five terrific final round performances, the judges were put in the unenviable position of having to pick only one winner from the talented group, which turned out to be Susie Grynol.

Grynol, a 23-year old Ottawa native, wowed the crowd with her incredible voice, and wins the opportunity to go to Baltimore, Maryland to sing the national anthem(s) at a Baltimore Orioles game during the 2004 season. Grynol also took home a $500 gift certificate from the St. Laurent Shopping Centre. The remaining four finalists took home a $50 gift certificate from St. Laurent Shopping Centre, as well as having the opportunity to sing the National Anthems at an Ottawa Lynx game this season.

All participants received two free tickets to the Lynx 2004 home opener on April 8th against the Buffalo Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Red Barons. First pitch on opening day is scheduled for 6:05 p.m.
