Tri-City Dust Devils News Release
The Tri-City Dust Devils (18-19) hung on to top the Eugene Emeralds (13-24) 5-4 on Sunday at Gesa Stadium. Tre Carter came in as a pinch runner and scored what became the game's winning run on a wild pitch in the bottom of the eighth inning.
Luis Asuncion hit a solo home run in the victory for the Dust Devils. In addition to Asuncion's impressive night at the plate, Aldemar Burgos, Owen Miller, and Olivier Basabe also had multiple hits in the win. Despite the victory, Tri-City's hopes of winning the first half title in the North Division came to an end on Sunday. The Everett AquaSox defeated the Boise Hawks to clinch the first half championship in the North. The Dust Devils will now try to secure the second and final playoff spot in the North Division by winning the second half.
Tri-City will send right-hander Adrian Martinez to the mound in the series finale. Eugene will counter with right-hander Derek Casey. Monday night at Gesa Stadium will be a Coca-Cola Monday, where all 22 oz. Coca-Cola products will be $1 all night long.
