Tri-City Evens Season Series with Lincoln

KEARNEY, Neb. - The Lincoln Stars (10-16-1) couldn't finish their chances as they lost 4-1 against the Tri-City Storm (16-10-1) at Viaero Center on Friday night.

Ben Schoen scored his first goal as a member of Tri-City in his first game as a member of the Storm 5:38 into the first period off a shot from the far wing. Caden Villegas tipped in a shot from Nicholas Donato at 15:36, putting the Stars in a 2-0 hole after 20 minutes.

The Stars were outshot 15-10 and failed to score on two chances on the power play. They killed off both penalties they committed.

Dalton Norris fired home his first goal of 2020-21 with a slap shot from the right point just as a power play was expiring, getting Lincoln on the scoreboard at 6:19. Norris' goal was assisted by Aidan Thompson and James Stefan, who extended his point streak to six games.

Kyler Kovich followed up with a strike at 15:15 for Tri-City, regaining their two-goal lead. Lincoln went into the third period down 3-1 being outshot 27-21.

The Stars had a number of chances from the slot in the third period, but were denied time and time again by Storm goaltender Conner Hopkins. Cole O'Hara added a power-play marker at 14:08, making it 4-1 Storm. Ryan Ouellette made 32 saves in the loss while Hopkins stopped 28 of 29 in the win.

The Stars were 8-for-9 on the penalty kill and 0-for-4 on the power play.
