WEST VALLEY CITY, UTAH - Ryan Trenz batted in a rebound of a Nolan Descoteaux shot with 2:52 to go in overtime, giving the Alaska Aces a 3-2 win at Utah Friday night at the Maverik Center.

The Mountain Division win gives the Aces points in 4 of the 5 games of the road trip.

After a scoreless first period, Tim Wallace drilled a clapper from the top of the right circle at 1:37 of the second to give Alaska a 1-0 lead. Wallace's 17th goal of the season was assisted by Trenz and Mitch Jones.

Later, after a couple good offensive shifts in the Grizzlies zone, Utah's Jon Puskar was sprung on a breakaway, drawing a penalty and subsequent penalty shot. Puskar zipped a wrister past Aces goaltender Kevin Carr's stick, and the game was tied at one.

Shortly thereafter, Austen Brassard went low, glove side on Carr from the lower right circle to make it 2-1 Utah.

Alaska answered in the third period. Tim Coffman took the puck down the left wing, cut inside the defenseman at the lower left circle, muscled in front of Utah netminder Ryan Faragher and slid the puck under the falling goaltender into the net for his 23rd goal of the season, assisted by Descoteaux and Tyler Shattock.

In the overtime period, Coffman dug a puck loose in the Aces defensive zone, and Descoteaux and Trenz took off on a 2on 1 break. Descoteaux fired from the right circle, Faragher blocked the shot, but couldn't corral the rebound. Trenz knocked the puck in for his 4th goal of the season and an Aces win.

Shots favored Utah 31-30 for the game. Carr was outstanding for Alaska making 29 saves. Faragher finished with 27.

The Aces and Grizzlies will play again Saturday at 5:10pm AST at the Maverik Center.
