Ottawa Lynx News Release
OTTAWA - The Ottawa Lynx are pleased to announce that DAVE TREMBLEY will be returning as field manager for the Ottawa Lynx in 2006.
Trembley, 54, returns to the Lynx for his 2nd season as manager of Triple-A Ottawa. He led the Lynx to a 69-75 record last season after spending the previous two seasons as manager at Double-A Bowie. In 2003 at Bowie, Trembley was named winner of the first Cal Ripken Sr. Player Development Award, presented to a Minor League staff member who exemplifies the qualities of the late Oriole who is regarded as the architect of "The Oriole Way." Trembley has been a Minor League manager for 19 years, including 9 seasons in the Chicago Cubs organization before joining the Orioles in 2002.
A resident of Daytona Beach Shores, Florida, Trembley is the 10th Manager in Lynx franchise history. He becomes the fifth man to manage the Lynx in more than one season (Pete Mackanin 1995/96; Pat Kelly - 1997/98; Jeff Cox - 1999/00; Tim Leiper 2002 and 2004). 2006 will be Trembley's 20th season as a Minor League manager, and he currently has 1,295 wins in his managerial career.
Trembley will have new coaches working with him at Ottawa in 2006. LARRY McCALL will move up from Double-A Bowie as Pitching Coach, and DALLAS WILLIAMS, a former Baltimore Orioles No. 1 draft pick, rejoins the organization as the Lynx Field Coach. McCall, 53, will begin his 17th season in the Orioles organization, having worked at each level of the Minor League system. He joins the Lynx after spending the last two years at Double-A Bowie, and Ottawa will be his 9th different team in the Orioles system. Williams, 47, served as the hitting coach for Double-A Springfield in the St. Louis Cardinals organization last season. He was first base coach for the Colorado Rockies for three years, 2000-2002, and held the same position with the Boston Red Sox in 2003. He began his professional coaching career in 1989 and has also worked in the Cleveland Indians and Chicago White Sox farm systems as a coach and instructor. Williams, a former outfielder, was the Baltimore Orioles first pick in the 1976 draft. He played 12 professional seasons, reaching the Majors with the Orioles for two games in September 1981 and playing 18 games for Cincinnati in 1983.
P.J. MAINVILLE will begin his 9th season as an Athletic Trainer in the organization and his 3rd at Ottawa, while JOE HOGARTY returns for his third year as Strength and Conditioning Coach for the Lynx.
